Join the next cohort of our 1.5-year Tibetan Medicine Diet & Lifestyle Counselor program at the Shang Shung Institute School of Tibetan Medicine USA!
Become a part of a small group interacting weekly with the heart of our School, a compassionate, wise, and experienced Tibetan Doctor, Phuntsog Wangmo, and study ancient tantras that came directly from the Medicine Buddha.
Enrollment is open only once a year, and we are currently accepting applications for our January 2026 cohort. We accept applications till December 17.
This program was born from our signature 4-year Tibetan Medicine Program and is the first part of the training. Upon completion, you will be able to start your practice as a TM Diet & Lifestyle Counselor, and if you wish, continue your studies to become a Menpa - Doctor of Tibetan Medicine.

This program is for you if you would like to:
-study traditional Tibetan Medicine as it is taught in schools in Tibet and India, presented in a modern context
-understand foundational principles, anatomy & physiology, and the nature of disease according to Tibetan Medicine
-know how to assess elemental constitution for yourself and others
-understand the theory and application of therapeutic diet & lifestyle for yourself and others
-diagnose general elemental states of imbalance through external observations
-learn the basics of reading, writing, and speaking in Tibetan
-learn to help people through diet & lifestyle choices – a powerful ancient tool to stay in balance and good health
