Yantra Yoga is a highly effective method of coordinating movement and breathing. It is performed as a set of prescribed movements that are brilliantly designed for the human body, each set of movements having a precise function that prepares the body for next movemnt series and the upcoming Yantra Series. The Preliminaries of Yantra Yoga runs over the four month period from March through June, every Tuesday online, and every second and fourth Wednesday in-person. It is a set of three movement sequences, preceded by the a practice to purify impure air, called the Nine Purifaction Breathings.
The course will start with explanation and exercises of Complete Breathing, (also called Respira). Then we will learn in the Nine Purification Breathings. Each in turn we will learn the Five Tsigjong Movements (Loosening the Joints), the Eight Lungsang Movements (that Purify the Prana), The Tsadul Breathing and the Five Tsadul Movements (that Control the Energy Channels). In the last month we will be able to practice all of the preliminaries together in one session.
Every class will be preceded by bodily warmups appropriate to the movements being taught for that class. Students of all levels are welcome. Modifications for the chair will not be covered. Students should be able to sit on the floor relatively comfortably, and to be able to come to a standing position.
